Veterinary dermatologist Ramon Almela has seen good results from nonthermal plasma, or cold plasma, to treat animals’ superficial skin infections, benign lesions, chronic wounds and other skin conditions. The treatment is painless and precise, and it kills pathogens without harming tissue, says Dr. Almela, an assistant professor at Tuft University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
