Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, or PRRS, is breaking in sow farms at approximately 3% per week, according to the USDA and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians. The financial impact of the infection adds up, and it’s estimated that PRRS found in a 2,500-sow herd could cause $2 million in production losses over 10 years, according to veterinarian Jim Lowe.
